I’ll tell it as it is on the economy: Chalmers
Federal Treasurer Jim Chalmers says his first duty is to tell voters why the economy is slowing and what the government is doing about growth, while rejecting criticism over his language about monetary policy and allegations he is at war with the central bank.
Speaking to The Australian Financial Review ahead of the release of the key GDP number that is expected to be underwhelming, the Treasurer said it was incumbent on him to be honest with people about why the economy was struggling to grow.
