Passwords and two-factor authentication will no longer be needed to access most federal government services, when a system is deployed that lets people log on to the myGov portal using facial scans, fingerprints or PINs.

The new encrypted passkey system announced on Thursday is based on an agreed international technical standard and provides faster, easier and more secure sign-ins to websites and apps.
