Challenge to Liberal preselections in NSW not successful

Goodbye for now

That’s a wrap from the blog team today.

To recap, Scott Morrison is clear to call a federal election after a court agreed the Liberal Party’s federal executive had the power to select candidates in 12 NSW seats.

Shadow Treasurer Jim Chalmers was at the National Press Club and spoke about Labor’s economic credentials, telling the audience that average productivity growth, wages growth and business investment were worse under the Coalition than the previous Labor government.

Mr Morrison spent the morning in the southern Sydney electorate of Banks, which is held by Liberal MP David Coleman. The pair visited a service station and Mr Morrison insisted fuel prices had fallen quickly after a cut in fuel excise announced in last week’s budget.
