This simple change could solve Labor’s super tax problem

A coalition of financial advice and accounting lobby groups is demanding Labor drop its plan to tax unrealised gains in high balance superannuation accounts to save its floundering flagship revenue raising policy.

They say the tax rate should instead be calculated using a proxy for actual earnings, which new modelling shows would result in slightly less revenue for the government but more consistency for super savers.
