Australia has reached near elimination of new local COVID-19 cases, with key caseload, community transmission, active cases and reproduction measures all confirming successful control over the virus.
A total of only nine cases were added to the national tally on Thursday, prompting NSW, Queensland and Victoria to a further round of reopenings across the eastern seaboard.
