Norwegian giant weighs up Hunter offshore wind options

The future of another major offshore wind farm is hanging in the balance after the Norwegian company behind one of the only proposed projects in NSW said it had not yet accepted the government’s invitation to progress its development near Newcastle.

Equinor, a Norwegian state-owned oil and gas company, said it had not signed off on Climate Change and Energy Minister Chris Bowen’s offer of a feasibility licence for its project in the Hunter offshore wind zone, which was publicly announced by the government in late February.
