Australia needs tighter rules to boost green hydrogen, Turnbull warns

Dubai | Former prime minister Malcolm Turnbull has urged the federal government to sign up to a tougher global standard for green hydrogen, as industry players warned that the sector’s credibility and viability was at risk from weak or inconsistent rules.

Mr Turnbull, who chairs the Green Hydrogen Organisation, said the existing Australian standard for what counts as green hydrogen could “legitimise hydrogen projects that are not sustainable”.
