Vaccine confusion goes viral, along with delta

The Sydney outbreak demonstrates the need for Australia’s political leaders to do more to protect businesses and households from the impact of an indefinite lockdown.

Yes, you should. No, you shouldn’t. Constantly changing advice on Australians’ only readily available vaccine, AstraZeneca, reflects the rampant confusion around the national vaccine strategy – and its disastrous effect in practice.

That’s bad enough when there’s no community transmission of the virus. When the NSW outbreak is in full bloom, conflicting messages have only compounded delays in getting more of the population vaccinated quickly enough. Yet the advice is still haphazard and inconsistent depending on who’s giving it.
