There has to be more to Australia’s fortunes than miners

Mining might be Australia’s most profitable industry. But it can’t be the answer to the economy’s biggest problems unless it is taxed properly.

Australian productivity growth is very low. Wages are rising faster and that causes inflation as unit labour costs rise. The elephant in the room is the productivity crisis, not the Reserve Bank just doing its job.

We need to talk about mining.
