After two years of cutting back, Australians are finally loosening their purse strings as confidence rises. But a full-blown boom seems unlikely.

After two years of economic gloom, Australians are starting to feel a little better about their finances. It’s not a spending spree, but after months of cutting back, households are making room in their budgets for small indulgences again.

With consumers no longer in a foul mood, they are again making room in their budgets for the nice-to-haves such as a meal out or a new pair of shoes, and the data shows it.
