Australian beer drinkers are paying among the highest prices in the world, turning competition and political scrutiny on a foreign-owned brewing duopoly.

Carlton & United Breweries and Lion Nathan, both Japanese owned, control about 80 to 85 per cent of the local beer brewing market.
