The Reserve Bank could hit pause on rate rises after a final increase next month, but economists say the cash rate will probably go up again in May unless more evidence emerges that inflation and the jobs market are cooling.

The RBA board delivered a widely anticipated 0.25 percentage point increase in interest rates at its monthly meeting on Tuesday, taking the cash rate to 3.6 per cent.
