Outgoing RBA governor Philip Lowe has been praised for a long and successful career of public service, including 43 years in Martin Place.
It started as a teenager straight out of high school, and culminated in the top job, where Lowe led a nine-member board and 1400 staff, worked alongside treasurers and prime ministers, faced media fury and attended dozens of meetings with central bankers, regulators and finance ministers around the world.
