NSW offers 4.5 per cent wage increase for nurses, police, teachers

NSW teachers, paramedics, police and other public sector workers are in line to receive a 4.5 per cent bump in wages from July 1 as Premier Chris Minns moves to head off strikes from unions demanding a lift of more than 6 per cent.

In its first major step to dismantle a public sector wage cap which has kept a lid on wages of between 2 and 3 per cent for the past three years, the 4.5 per cent increase – which is expected to cost $618 million over one year – will also include a 0.5 per cent lift in super.
