Treasurer Jim Chalmers flashed a hint of a smile on Wednesday after official inflation figures showed price pressures had fallen to a two-year low.

The consummate media performer said there was “encouraging progress” in the fight against inflation “but it’s not mission accomplished yet because we know people are still under the pump”.
