After plummeting for decades, our trust in institutions encountered an unforeseen updraft in the pandemic. Although this has been most obvious in government approval ratings, Australian business has also risen in public esteem after being forced to focus on core purpose and humanity.

Energy companies and telcos suspended disconnections. Banks offered repayment holidays. Supermarkets managed panic in the aisles and prioritised deliveries to the elderly and those with disabilities.
