A former chairman of the Industries Assistance Commission and key figure in the “tariff wars”, Bill Carmichael, died in Canberra on July 9. He was 93.
By the time he retired in 1988, Carmichael had served at the Tariff Board and Industries Assistance Commission for some three decades.
