ATO culture is ‘outdated’ and ‘risk-averse’, review finds

The Australian Taxation Office, with a staff of about 25,000, has an outdated and risk-averse culture that needs changes ranging from more empowerment of employees to succession planning, according to a report by the country’s top public servant.
A review by Australian Public Service Commissioner Stephen Sedgwick says the ATO, more than a century-old, should review its structure and practices to become more innovative.
