Census website attacked by hackers, ABS says

The head of the Australian Bureau of Statistics, David Kalisch, has said Tuesday's night census was the subject of a cyber attack, likely from overseas after the website went down last night.

The weeks leading up to the census has seen wide concern over the ability of the bureau to protect people personal details in the event of a hack after they changed their policy on the length data would be retained.
