The Cboe Volatility Index, aka Vix, is often cited by market strategists as at least a relative measure of investor sentiment: when equities are rising, fear is falling.

Last week it fell below 13, to its lowest levels since January 2020. The Vix has swung up and down the last several sessions, tracking tech stocks.
