ASX to rise, Wall St lower as tech stumbles

Australian shares are poised to rise. US equities were modestly lower in the final hour of trading as investors parsed comments from Donald Trump’s Treasury secretary nominee and a key Federal Reserve policymaker.
Bloomberg is reporting that Rio Tinto and Glencore are holding talks about merging their businesses, a combination that would leapfrog BHP as the world’s largest mining group.
