Despite her tongue-in-cheek name, Mardi Gras co-host Courtney Act is no joke, with a career shaped as much by financial nous as her commitment to diversity.

To be honest, I wasn’t sure who to expect. It could have been entertainer Shane Jenek, 38, but no, it’s the full Courtney Act ascending the stairs of the Ovolo Hotel in Woolloomooloo on a Thursday in February.
Courtney is flawless in a pale blue Howie B suit and pearls, cascades of blonde curls piled high on her head. Her blue eyes, extravagantly lashed and mascaraed, sparkle. What seems like cleavage on closer inspection turns out to be painted.
