ATO should show 'grace' to small business

The Tax Office should put "grace ahead of lawyers" when dealing with small business, Assistant Treasurer Stuart Robert has warned.

Days after an independent review cleared ATO officers of engaging in a cowboy cash-grabs against business operators through use of controversial debt recovery tactics, Mr Robert used an address to the Tax Institute annual conference on Friday to call for a more sensitive approach to resolving disputes.
