Chanel Contos says most rapists are ‘entitled opportunists’

The majority of rapists in Australia – well-educated young men from good family homes who are unlikely to use anger or violence – would behave differently if they fully understood the consequences of their actions, says leading rape culture activist Chanel Contos.

Speaking to the National Press Club on Wednesday, Ms Contos said by far the largest group of sexual assault offenders, who she described as “entitled opportunists”, were also the least likely to face any consequences.
