Self-isolation? Quite honestly, I don’t know what everyone’s carrying on about. I’m a freelance booze writer; I’ve spent the past 25 years working from home and drinking too much.

I’m joking, of course. Well, not entirely – but I am acutely aware of how dramatically this crisis has affected the broader drinks community. Drinking is, by its nature, a shared experience – conviviality is central to the activities of the people who make, promote, sell and consume booze.
