British designer Susie Cave’s dresses – with their high necklines, long ruffled sleeves and hems that trail the floor – are sometimes lumped into the recent trend towards modesty in Western fashion. But Cave says that is a misrepresentation.
“I don’t think modesty has anything to do with the appeal of my dresses,” muses the wife of Australian musician Nick Cave. “My dresses may cover you up, but they make no secret of the beautiful female shape. There is a real sensuality to them.”
