Showing a collection of clothing at Australian Fashion Week is a rite of passage for many designers, whose ambitions have rested on the runway since the event began in 1996.

And while street style – clothing worn by influencers and editors to the events – has been growing in importance over the past few years, it has now eclipsed the might of the runway itself.
