In time for summer: Chevrolet’s Corvette Stingray C8 convertible
But you’ll be hard-pressed to get hold of this right-hand drive American icon in open-top form: There are waiting lists around the world.
What is it? The open-top version of the very much in-demand Corvette Stingray. Next year is the 70th anniversary of the nameplate, yet this latest C8 series is the first ’Vette with the engine behind the driver and, even more importantly for Australians, the first built in right-hand drive.
What does it cost? In 2LT trim, it’s $159,990, plus on-road costs. The all bells-and-whistles 3LT is $175,500. That represents a $15,000 premium over the coupe we previously tested. Confusingly, though, the coupe has a large lift-out roof panel, making it a near-convertible (and making the choice harder).
