The hidden flaw in Virgin’s frequent flyer program

Virgin Australia’s most loyal customers are being stung at both ends – no lounge access on international flights and penalties for choosing to fly on partner airlines that welcome Velocity’s top-tier travellers.

Virgin unveiled changes to its Velocity frequent flyer program late last year, including less generous points and status credits for its members who fly on partners such as Air New Zealand, Air Canada, United Airlines, Singapore Airlines and Qatar Airways, to destinations where it does not venture.
