Swift Lift: Domestic travellers splashed $170m during Taylor’s tour

Domestic travellers spending up big in Sydney and Melbourne during Taylor Swift’s Eras tour splashed more than $170 million in six days across restaurants, shops and other attractions, in a boon for the two cities that would have drawn on discretionary spending pools in other states.

As economists parse over the impact of the star’s Australian tour and its strength as a stimulus or potential inflationary driver, data compiled by CommBankIQ revealed Swifties travelling to Melbourne from the regions and interstate injected $81 million into the city over three nights.
