Bhim Khadka’s restaurant in a once-thriving Melbourne retail strip has five stars on Google and three staff on the floor, but not a single customer at lunchtime on Tuesday.

Once a food and fashion hotspot, Bridge Road in Richmond is now dotted with for lease signs and farewell notes to customers as cafes, bars, restaurants, retailers and yoga studios go to the wall amid low consumer confidence and high input costs.
