More than a year before Tianqi Lithium's new West Australian processing plant is expected to begin producing a battery-grade lithium chemical, the Chinese company has green-lighted plans for an expansion that will double the facility's capacity.
The expansion will see as much as 48,000 of lithium hydroxide eventually pumped out of the plant, which is under construction in Kwinana, about 38 kilometres south of Perth.
