Newcrest culture probe lobbed before Biswas exit

Directors of Newcrest Mining received a report that raised doubts over the progress made on improving workplace culture shortly before Sandeep Biswas stepped down as the chief executive of the nation’s biggest gold miner in December.

Mr Biswas had vowed in February 2022 to make Newcrest a more inclusive, respectful and “psychologically safe” workplace after conceding that his leadership style had been too “autocratic” in his early years at the company and needed to change to suit modern standards.
