Mining lobby says Plibersek intervention imperils $1b gold project

Mining industry groups say they are concerned about a decision made by Environment Minister Tanya Plibersek to force Regis Resources to consider changes to its $1 billion NSW gold project on Indigenous cultural heritage grounds.

Regis is expected to outline to investors what impact Ms Plibersek’s intervention will have on the McPhillamys project, which is intended to mine copper and gold near Blayney in NSW, and whether major changes are needed to the development.
