The Australian Press Council has backed The Australian Financial Review’s editorial decision to name a businessman with COVID-19, ruling the individual was a public figure and the story was in the public interest.

The Financial Review faced criticism for revealing Apollo Global Management managing director Tom Pizzey as the Sydney person diagnosed with COVID-19 in May.
