Simon Birmingham named chief executive of Australian Banking Association

Former federal Coalition minister Simon Birmingham has been appointed as chief executive of the Australian Banking Association, replacing Anna Bligh.

The ABA represents the country’s largest lenders, including the National Australia Bank, Commonwealth Bank, ANZ and Westpac. The powerful industry lobby also works on behalf of many other smaller banks.
