Responsible lending changes to ease customer pain points

Bankers and the prudential regulator are united in the view the unwinding of responsible lending laws won’t lead to a relaxing of lending standards but instead will help them remove extended bottlenecks in the approvals process.

While planned changes to the controversial regime have been delayed until June with the federal government struggling to win support in the Senate following campaigning from consumer groups, lenders and rule-makers are optimistic it will get through.
