Lending curbs should target investors not homeowners: Defence Bank CEO

Defence Bank CEO David Marshall says lending restrictions designed to take heat out of the property market shouldn’t unfairly hamper aspiring homeowners and recommends targeting investors instead.

The vast majority of the lender’s customers are serving members of the defence forces, with 60 per cent under the age of 50. Following the prudential regulator’s decision to lift serviceability buffers on October 6, Mr Marshall says the next move should be more targeted.
