On a warm Wednesday afternoon, staff at Block’s new digs in the old Tooth & Co Brewery in the inner Sydney were preparing for a party, flat screens broadcasting the US presidential election results.

But Nick Molnar, the Afterpay co-founder, had jetted in from the US, where he’s now based, to celebrate another milestone: 10 years ago to the day that the first payment was made using his buy now, pay later platform.
