Treasury Wine steps up amid Beijing blues

The chief executive of Treasury Wine Estates, maker of the Penfolds and Wolf Blass brands, says the company will ‘‘roll up its sleeves’’ and work with governments to try to resolve a situation that ‘‘matters deeply to the company and the entire wine industry’’.

Tim Ford, who took the helm of Australia’s biggest wine group on July 1, said on Tuesday that Treasury Wine had been a leader in building the Australian wine category in China and would be a leader as the difficult trade situation played out.
