Australian cattle prices are now the highest in the world among major producers and the steep rise is posing a headache for the export industry as it looks to hold on to key customers in Indonesia and Vietnam.
There are fears the sky-high prices will see Australia’s two biggest cattle markets turn to Brazilian beef and India buffalo as cheaper alternatives.
