Two key representatives of Joe Lewis, the British billionaire indicted last week for insider trading in the US, have denied leaking confidential information while on the board of Australian beef giant AACo.

Their answers were revealed in a response by AACo to queries from the market operator on Tuesday morning, after charges were laid against Mr Lewis in New York last week.

An earlier version of this story said Mr Lewis owned Tottenham Hotspur. The club says he owned the club until last year, when legal changes meant he ceased being a person with significant control, and now a trust, of which members of his family are potential beneficiaries, owns 70 per cent of the club.
