US firm bids for Aussie 5G player NetComm

US firm Casa Systems has launched a takeover bid for Australian telecommunications equipment manufacturer NetComm Wireless, in a deal that would position the company to exploit a potential explosion of 5G fixed-wireless technology.
The offer valued NetComm at more than 50 per cent above its market value at the time, but the announcement on Friday sent shares in the small-cap ASX-listed company surging almost 50 per cent.
