The seven people charged with a violent feud which sparked a wild car chase and shootout have entered pleas to their charges.
Police allege Donna Sell, 37, her partner, Andrew James Goulding, 49, Christopher Ikin, 38, Ronald Kirkbright, 40, Zachary John Gartside, 25, Jared Edward Ferdinands, 27, and Brooke Louise Doran, 39, were involved in a violent brawl between groups “at war with each other”.
Police were called to Mr Kirkbright’s house on Wallace Rd at Elizabeth Vale after nearby residents reported a large altercation followed by gunshots.
In the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Monday, the group entered pleas to their charges.
Ms Sell, of Smithfield, pleaded not guilty to affray, discharging a firearm and possessing a firearm.
Mr Kirkbright, of Elizabeth Vale, and Mr Ferdinands, of Elizabeth Grove, pleaded not guilty to property damage and discharging a firearm, while Mr Kirkbright also pleaded not guilty to driving dangerously and Mr Ferdinands pleaded not guilty to possessing an explosive device.
Ms Doran, of Hillbank, pleaded not guilty to affray.
Ikin, of St Agnes, and Goulding, of Smithfield, pleaded guilty to property damage and affray, while Ikin also pleaded guilty to driving dangerously and Goulding pleaded not guilty to possessing a firearm.
Gartside, of Hillbank, pleaded guilty to affray and possessing and discharging a firearm.
Ikin applied for bail, which a prosecutor opposed – saying they were worried about further retribution between the groups.
The court heard Ikin and his group arrived at Mr Kirkbright’s house on January 21.
Goulding exited a car armed with a baseball bat, while Ikin picked up a paver and smashed the front windscreen of a ute in the driveway.
Ms Sell, Ms Doran and Gartside also entered the premises, while Mr Kirkbright and Mr Ferdinands exited the house and a brawl between the parties allegedly ensued.
Some of the group reattended the property 20 minutes after they left, where Ms Sell was allegedly seen on CCTV firing a shotgun into Mr Kirkbright’s garage door.
The court heard this was followed by a shootout on heavily populated Main North Rd.
“Mr Ikin is driving a silver BMW, Mr Kirkbright and Mr Ferdinands are making chase and shooting,” the prosecutor said.
James Noblet, for Ikin, told the court he had spent eight months in custody for the offending, which he believed was sufficient time.
“He’s highly motivated to do the right thing,” he said.
Mr Noblet said the “dust had settled” between the groups and there had been no ongoing issues.
Magistrate Simon Smart denied Ikin bail, due to his risk of reoffending
Goulding will next appear in Adelaide Magistrates Court for sentence in November, while the remaining group will appear in the District Court in November and December.
