Andrew Goulding released on bail, charged with violent feud at Elizabeth Vale alongside six others

Despite previously bashing someone to death and his role in a violent feud between groups “at war”, the alleged instigator has been bailed.

The alleged instigator of the feud which sparked a wild car chase and shootout has been bailed, despite his violent past.

Convicted killer, Andrew James Goulding, 49, was granted home detention bail in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Wednesday, despite police fears there would be further retribution.

His partner Donna Maree Sell, 36, and their co-accused Christopher Ikin, 37, Ronald Kirkbright, 39, and Jared Edward Ferdinands, 27, allegedly then took it one step further with a terrifying daylight shootout.

Zachary John Gartside, 25, and Brooke Louise Doran, 39, are also accused of being involved in the affray, where the groups were “at war with each other”.

A prosecutor told the court they had serious concerns for Mr Goulding’s release on bail, as he had previously been convicted of manslaughter.

“It was really retributive violence … there was a dispute between the deceased and Mr Goulding and another fellow in relation to a quantity of chemical used in some manufacture of illegal drugs,” the prosecutor said.

“That dispute then led to the severe beating of the victim in the matter and eventual death.”

The court heard Mr Goulding was the alleged instigator of the brawl and police feared there would be further retribution.

Police were called to Mr Kirkbright’s house on Wallace Rd at Elizabeth Vale after nearby residents reported a large altercation followed by gunshots on January 21.

The court heard Mr Goulding exited a car holding a baseball bat and allegedly smashed a car window.

Mr Ikin then allegedly smashed another window with a paver, while Ms Sell and two other people also walked onto the property.

Three people exited the house, holding a hammer and metal pole.

The court heard Mr Goulding’s left arm was allegedly broken by Mr Kirkbright after he hit him with a pole.

Mr Goulding, Ms Doran and Mr Gartside are charged with aggravated affray, while Ms Sell, Mr Kirkbright, Mr Ferdinands and Mr Ikin are all charged with endangering life.

Mr Kirkbright, Ms Sell and Mr Ferdinands are also charged with discharging a firearm.

Police allege some of the group reattended the property 20 minutes after they left.

Ms Sell was allegedly then seen on CCTV holding a shotgun which she fired into the house.

“Sell then left the house in a silver BMW allegedly driven by Ikin which was followed in pursuit by Mr Kirkbright and another man in a blue commodore,” a prosecutor said during an earlier bail application.

“One of the occupants of the BMW shoots through the back window of the BMW at the Commodore and shots are exchanged between both vehicles as seen by members of the public travelling on the heavily populated Main North Rd.”

The cars allegedly continued to shoot at each other while driving.

The court heard the firearms had not yet been recovered.

Magistrate Roderick Jensen released Mr Goulding on home detention bail to an Old Noarlunga address and ordered him not to have contact with his co-accused, besides Ms Sell.

All accused’s charges were adjourned until June.
