Police are desperate to find two missing firearms and an alleged offender following a terrifying daylight shootout in the northern suburbs during peak hour.

Four people were arrested on January 22 after an alleged violent feud that saw guns fired at a house and a shootout between cars along a busy northern suburbs road the day before.

One woman and three males were charged with affray and other serious offences.

Two defendants Donna Sell, 36, and Christopher Ikin, 37, were denied bail last week and will face court again in May.

A 17-year-old boy who allegedly blasted a car with a shotgun faced the youth court on Monday, with a home detention report ordered.

Andrew Goulding, 48, and Ronald Kirkbright, 36, who were allegedly in the groups ‘at war with each other’, fronted the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on Monday where they applied for bail.

The police prosecutor told Magistrate Mark Semmens that Mr Kirkbright was charged on Monday with an additional offence from a separate occasion.

“It relates to Mr Kirkbright being in possession of a class H firearm on January 1,” the prosecutor said.

The prosecutor said there was one outstanding offender and two outstanding firearms.

Defence counsel Elliot King, for Mr Kirkbright, said the CCTV footage used to allege the new charge was ambiguous and had not been before the court.

“I note that through discussions I’ve had with Mr Kirkbright and police, in the course of the month of January, Mr Kirkbright’s house was raided no less than five occasions,” Mr King said.

Mr Semmens denied bail for both men, citing the seriousness of the charges.

“I’ve considered the matter very carefully, I note all forms of bail are opposed by the prosecution,” Mr Semmens said.

“The allegations are that there are two groups of people the first being Kirkbright and another man at Wallace St in Elizabeth Vale, the second group being Ikin, Sell, Goulding and another person.

“They arrive on CCTV at Wallace St carrying weapons, there’s an affray and Goulding’s arm is broken, they then leave.

“Three of those people, and not Goulding, reattended the house 20 minutes later in a BMW.

“A shotgun is discharged by Sell, the group is then pursued by Kirkbright and another man in a Commodore.”

Mr Semmens said the two vehicles engaged in dangerous driving.

“Shots were exchanged between the vehicles,” he said.

Mr Goulding’s lawyer, Omar Ali, asked Mr Semmens for an adjournment to seek a new home detention report.
Mr Semmens noted Mr Goulding’s prior conviction for manslaughter in 2006, for which he was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment with a non-parole period of 12.

“In my view no form of bail is appropriate in accordance with ameliorating the risk to the community,” Mr Semmens said.

“Obviously there’s some simmering dispute between two groups involving firearms, violence and a wilful disregard for the safety of the community and each other.”

Mr Kirkbright and Mr Goulding will face court again in May.
