Police fear there will be further retribution after a brawl allegedly escalated into a ferocious shootout between speeding cars on a busy northern suburbs main road.

The concerns were raised in opposition to an application to modify the bail of Andrew James Goulding 49, in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Thursday.

Mr Goulding, charged with instigating the violent brawl, applied to have his home detention conditions removed.

Police allege his partner Donna Maree Sell, 36, and their co-accused Christopher Ikin, 37, Ronald Kirkbright, 39, Zachary John Gartside, 25, and Jared Edward Ferdinands, 27, were subsequently involved in a terrifying daylight shootout.

Brooke Louise Doran, 39, is also accused of being involved in the affray, where the groups were “at war with each other”.

A prosecutor said they were opposed to removing home detention conditions for Mr Goulding, as he had an “unenviable” criminal history.

The court heard Mr Goulding was previously sentenced to 15 years, with a 12-year non-parole period for a “drug killing” committed in “retribution”.

“This incident occurred 18 months after his non-parole period finalised … there is concern that is a risk of further retribution,” the prosecutor said.

Police were called to Mr Kirkbright’s house on Wallace Rd at Elizabeth Vale after nearby residents reported a large altercation followed by gunshots on January 21.

The court previously heard Mr Goulding exited a car holding a baseball bat and allegedly smashed a car window.

Mr Ikin then allegedly smashed another window with a paver, while Ms Sell and two other people also walked onto the property.

Police claim three people exited the house, holding a hammer and metal pole.

The court heard Mr Goulding’s left arm was allegedly broken by Mr Kirkbright after he hit him with a pole.

Mr Goulding and Ms Doran are charged with aggravated affray, while Ms Sell, Mr Gartside, Mr Kirkbright, Mr Ferdinands and Mr Ikin are all charged with endangering life.

Mr Gartside and Ms Sell are also charged with discharging a firearm.

Police allege some of the group reattended the property 20 minutes after they left.

Ms Sell was allegedly then seen on CCTV holding a shotgun which she fired into the house.

“Sell then left the house in a silver BMW allegedly driven by Ikin which was followed in pursuit by Mr Kirkbright and another man in a blue commodore,” a prosecutor said during an earlier bail application.

“One of the occupants of the BMW shoots through the back window of the BMW at the Commodore and shots are exchanged between both vehicles as seen by members of the public travelling on the heavily populated Main North Rd.”

The cars allegedly continued to shoot at each other while driving.

In the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Thursday, Chief Magistrate Mary-Louise Hribal refused to remove Mr Goulding’s home detention conditions, for the protection of the community.

“For f***s sake,” Ms Sell could be heard muttering on hearing the decision.

Ms Sell also applied for a bail variation but the prosecutor said they weren’t ready to proceed and asked for it to be adjourned until next week.

“Perhaps I’ll bring my son so he can see how it is,” Ms Sell said.

“I’d prefer if you didn’t Ms Sell,” replied Chief Magistrate Hribal.

The group will face court again next month.
