A popular Port Noarlunga cafe has closed its doors, blaming the coronavirus pandemic for its demise.

The Fleurieu Pantry announced its immediate closure on April 7 via its Instagram profile.

“It’s been an extremely hard decision, but one which had to be made,” wrote owner, Trudy Fischer.

“We tried our best and hung in until it was no longer viable. We are saddened that it has come to an end, but the physical, psychological and financial stress throughout Covid has finally worn us down.

“We would like to take this opportunity to thank our amazing community, staff and family for all of their support and love through these extremely tough times. We have loved serving our beautiful customers and will miss you immensely. Our heads are held high, and we will look back proudly on what we have achieved in our time.

“It’s time now for us to enjoy our family and focus on new opportunities, new chapters and the future ahead.”

The Fleurieu Pantry had been open more than a decade and was well known in the southern suburbs community for its all-day breakfast menu and was a Coeliac Australia-approved kitchen. It was also known for its curry nights back in the day.

Owners have offered support to local community throughout the pandemic, including free delivery of ready-made meals for those in quarantine or with health issues.

Meanwhile, an Adelaide couple is giving away the opportunity of a lifetime by offering their CBD cafe to a lucky South Australian free of charge.

My Goodness Cafe, in Station Arcade through the alley from the Adelaide Railway Station to North Tce and Hindley St, is being advertised for free, coming with all plants and fitting equipment.
