No matter the time or place, you’ll find a kebab is the ultimate late-night meal. Here are five around Adelaide that are more than likely to be filled with hungry punters.
Yianni’s Hellenic Yiros
An Adelaide late-night staple for many years, Yianni’s Greek-style yiros satisfies the tastebuds at any time of the day.
Their traditional charcoal meats, including juicy lamb, chicken and pork, are full of flavour and as you’d expect, carved straight off the rotisserie and on to the lightly grilled pita.
Portions are generous and the yiros is filled with crisp lettuce, tomato, white onion and tzatziki or homemade garlic sauce.
Regularly proclaimed as the state’s best, including by The Advertiser’s own delicious. 100 list in 2023, Yianni’s is currently undergoing a refresh but will be well worth a visit when it reopens its doors later this month.

Afghan Charcoal Kebab House
The rich flavours of Afghanistan permeate from every bite at this establishment, which has been serving up authentic treats to Adelaideans for more than a decade.
Using traditional cooking techniques and vibrant spices, their chefs offer up an array of dishes highlighted by various kebab combinations of chicken, lamb or lamb mince.
The tender, moist meat comes on skewers with a side of rice or Afghan flatbread, naan and assorted salad and sauces.
If kebabs aren’t your thing, the extensive menu also offers up a range of platters, wraps, falafels, curries and schnitzels, so make sure you bring your hunger with you.

The Local Greek
Everyone might be heading overseas for a European summer but you don’t have to miss out of the flavours of Greece, thanks to this street food-focused eatery from Niki and Vasili Tsagklis.
Their souvla, Hellenic-style yiros is packed with lamb, pork or chicken that’s been slow-roasted over volcanic lava rock, which cooks the meat evenly and provides a slight smokey flavour.
Wrapped in a traditional pita with tomato, red onion and house-made tzatziki, there’s also the all-important chips tucked inside. It’s just like you’re dining on a Greek Island … minus the sunshine.

The Ghan Kebab House
Once a tiny takeaway joint, this family run kebab shop expanded due to demand several years ago – and it hasn’t looked back since.
The perfectly spiced lamb and chicken kebabs are generously sized, grilled over charcoal, and come with chewy flatbread or rice, alongside grilled tomato, salad and sauce.
The menu is a meat lover’s dream with options ranging from shami kufta (lamb mince) and shami mince chicken, to tender tikka lamb, goat curry and even a half charcoal chicken, all well priced and packed with flavour.
Located in the heart of Adelaide’s northern suburbs’ “kebab belt”, The Ghan still manages to stand out after all these years.

What started as a dream to share the vegan lifestyle through food has now developed into a flourishing business, both as a roaming food truck and as a bricks and mortar store in the East End.
Promising not to skimp on taste, this eatery delivers in spades, with the usual yiros options, such as lamb and chicken, but in plant-based form.
Add in homemade tzatziki, tomato, red onion/parsley, lettuce, plus crunchy hot chips, encased in an authentic toasted pita and you have a delicious meal that you won’t believe is 100 per cent vegan.
