Cafe owner Trudy Fischer has a passion for helping communities in need.
So when COVID-19 hit, she wanted to help to those affected by the virus.
“We need to stick together and help each other during times like these; times we have never seen in our lifetime,” said Ms Fischer, of Port Noarlunga’s The Fleurieu Pantry.
She has offered a helping hand to elderly residents who are struggling to get hold of essential items.
“If you are experiencing hard times, talk to us and we will offer what we can,” she said.
Like many restaurants and cafes across Adelaide, Ms Fischer and her staff are also preparing meals for those who are too ill to cook.
She said people in isolation, or those with an underlying health condition, could place phone orders for food and drink, which would be left outside the cafe to be collected.
For those living within a 10km radius of the cafe, Ms Fischer would offer free delivery to help people unable to leave their homes.
Meals are $15 each, and pensioners get a 10 per cent discount.
